Beppu Station to Kannawa with luggage

Choose the correct station side, stop and bag plan before boarding.

Check the entrance, exit and destination signs on the bus you actually board. The route number shown in this 2016 photograph is not a current route recommendation; vehicles and boarding arrangements can change.

01 / GUIDE

Your quickest decision

  • Taking the bus? Ask the hotel which stop it recommends before choosing a station exit.
  • Travelling with bulky bags? Compare a taxi quote for your whole party with the bus fare per passenger.
  • Sightseeing before check-in? Confirm hotel bag storage first; station lockers require a return to collect your case.
  • Next action: save the accommodation name and address in Japanese, then check the departure for your travel date.

Arrival decision guide: confirm the hotel stop and entrance, choose bus, taxi or confirmed bag storage, and save the address and check-in time.
  1. Confirm the destination. Ask: “Which stop should I use with a suitcase, and how do I reach your entrance?” Save the answer with the Japanese address.
  2. For 鉄輪, check the west-side departure. Kamenoi's official boarding guide assigns bay 3 to Kannawa/Umi Jigoku services. Check the current route, destination display and day type, rather than boarding by route number alone.
  3. If the hotel recommends 鉄輪温泉, check the east-side alternative. Beppu City lists Oita Kotsu services from the East Exit, with an approximate 25-minute ride to that stop. Confirm the departure bay, fare and service in Oita Kotsu's route tools. Do not replace 鉄輪温泉 with 鉄輪 in the search.
  4. Board with a workable bag plan. Kamenoi permits carry-on suitcases; its FAQ only specifically promises a luggage compartment on Yufurin, not every local bus. Keep doors and aisles clear. If the bag cannot be safely managed, use your taxi backup.
  5. Finish at the correct entrance. Follow the hotel's directions from the stop. For a taxi, show the full address, not simply “Kannawa.” Tell the property if delays threaten a dinner or check-in deadline.

Check the final walk with your accommodation: slopes, paving and the entrance can matter with a large suitcase. This street is one Kannawa example, not the route to every hotel; choose a taxi if your confirmed route and luggage make walking impractical.

Delivery and route checks
  • Beppu City: Kannawa Steam Bath access supplies approximate west-exit bus, east-exit Oita Kotsu and car times. Its additional walking times are to the bath, not to your accommodation.
  • Published route lists differ: Kamenoi's sightseeing-access page includes route 1, while the reviewed timetable index has no standalone route 1 row. City access information also lists east-side routes more broadly. Use the operator's date-specific result and on-site destination display.
  • Oita Kotsu's airport baggage-delivery page says that service is suspended. Do not plan on this service for luggage delivery.
  • Ask for the current taxi quote and locker price before choosing.
